- Step 2: We convert automatically The conversion starts instantly and usually finishes in a few seconds. Converter App preserves transparency (alpha channel) and decodes common DDS formats such as DXT1, DXT3, DXT5, BC7, and uncompressed textures. Only the main image is saved to PNG; mipmaps are ignored by design. Tip: If your DDS is a cube map or a 3D array, export the faces or layers first, then convert. If colors look off, re-export the DDS from your tool with the correct color space and try again.
