M4A to MP3

  • Step 1: Select up to 20 M4A files or drag and drop them here. Choose a bitrate if you like; Auto is recommended for most audio. Tip: If your M4A is ALAC (lossless), keep a copy of the original.
  • Step 2: The conversion starts automatically and finishes quickly. Re-encoding AAC to MP3 will not improve quality, but it will increase compatibility.
  • Step 3: Click Convert, then Download. If you upload more than one file, you will receive a ZIP containing all the MP3s.

You can upload up to 20 files at once.

Batch convert up to 20 M4A files

Drag in up to 20 M4A files and Converter App will deliver your MP3s in one go. If you add more than one, we bundle the results into a single ZIP.

    Fast in-browser conversion

Uploads start instantly and conversion runs on Converter App’s servers, so you finish fast. We handle large M4A files smoothly and impose no daily caps.

    Free, no hidden fees

Converter App is free to use. No paywalls, no trial limits, no account required.

    Quality you control

Converter App lets you choose Auto for smart results or set a fixed bitrate (320–64 kbps); music is best at 192 kbps+, podcasts at 128 kbps. If your M4A is ALAC lossless, keep a copy of the original since MP3 is always lossy.

    Device-friendly MP3 output

Converter App produces standard MP3s that play in cars, phones, and older players without tweaking. Perfect when a device won’t accept AAC M4A.

    Privacy respected

Your files are processed temporarily and removed automatically after conversion. No signup required.

Convert M4A to MP3 without installing software

Open Converter App in your browser, add your M4A files, choose MP3, and convert. It is free and works on any device.

M4A vs MP3: which should you use?

M4A and MP3 are basically containers (think of boxes) for audio data; Inside they use codecs to encode the audio. M4A usually uses AAC (lossy) or sometimes ALAC (lossless). “Lossy” means it throws away tiny details to shrink the file—good for size, but you can’t get those details back; “lossless” keeps every bit of the original. MP3 is always lossy but plays almost everywhere. So use MP3 for maximum compatibility, and keep M4A with ALAC if you need exact, original quality — Converting AAC to MP3 won’t make it sound better but increases the compatibility.

Convert M4A to MP3 on Windows

Yes there are various ways. The easiest way is Converter App. If you want to go for offline conversion: in Apple Music or iTunes set Import Settings to MP3, then use File, Convert, Create MP3 Version. That should do the job offline.

    Any downsides?

Re-encoding a lossy M4A (AAC) to MP3 adds a small quality loss. Use Auto or 192 kbps for music, 128 kbps for podcasts. If your source is ALAC, keep a copy of the original if you need lossless.
